Last eight will be great

With the Champions league draw taken place what an eventful few weeks we are in for. With Chelsea drawingManchester UnitedReal Madrid host Tottenham, Barcelona will meet Shakhtar Donetsk and Inter Milan will face Schalke.

With the much anticipated game being the all English tie between Chelsea and Manchester United. Chelsea wanting revenge from that Moscow upset 3 years ago, when the sides met in the final and Chelsea went out on Penalties, this game is surely going to kick off the last eight and hopefully show the passion and excitement that the Champions league offers.

Carlo Ancelotti, the Chelsea manager believes that three clubs representing England in the Champions league last eight is a positive for the English game.

“For English football, it’s good- Last season no English teams were in the semi- finals. This year, one team or two teams will be in the semi finals”.

With Tottenham the other surprise English team in the last eight after beating AC Milan 1-0. They now have the daunting task of taking on the Spanish giants, Real Madrid. This would be a much greater task than what they had against AC Milan, however if they go into this game with the wrong attitude this could hinder them straight away. With Jose Mourinho know in charge of Madrid, he knows the game inside out, he even won it for the second time last year with Inter Milan.

He is regarded as the ‘special one’ let’s not forget.

Real Madrid could see playing Tottenham at this stage of the Champions league as a bypass to the semis. With respect to Tottenham they are in a position they have not been in for many of years and lack the experience that the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona ooze with.

Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp is excited for the game and cannot wait to get it started;

It’s a fantastic draw. What a game to look forward to against one of the greatest clubs in world football,” he said. “You have to look forward to games like this. These are the great days in your life and great days inTottenham’s history. We’ll go there and give it a real go and you couldn’t have a more exciting or tougher game.

What is for sure is that there can be two English teams in the semi finals if Tottenham can overcome nine times European cup winners, Real Madrid.

Whatever happens hopefully there can be two English teams that progress to the semi finals and show European football and the world that the English game still rises above the rest.
